The name of wolfhounds explains pretty well what kind of dogs they are. They are large, strong and enduring animals that hunt wolves and protect herds from them. Adult wolfhound males can weight up to 90 kg. These animals mostly serve and listen to commands of only one particular person. They need to be constantly brought up and trained. Only a person who has experience in keeping such breeds can do that. That is why it is not recommended to get this dog neither as a family dog, nor as the first pet of yours. When it comes to guarding, no other dog group is better at that.

It is not known when and where wolfhounds first appeared. It is believed that they started being bred about the same time in different places all around the world. It is important to understand that wolfhounds are not herding dogs: they cannot control the herd. Their main task is to protect it from danger.
If you don't know which breed to choose — take the test on the selection of the breed, and carefully read its description in the Bookipet catalog.
